Urvarasa is a project initiated by Jeeva Bhavana that seeks to empower farmers with ethical and sustainable agricultural practices, and to reward them for their efforts by making sure they are well compensated for the vital work that they do. We strive for an equitable food system that ensures that all people in India have equal access to unadulterated, chemical-free, nutritional plant-based foods, grown by farmers who are doing the right thing for the environment and for human health, and for the ethical treatment of non-human animals. We seek to empower farmers not only through economic autonomy but also through personal food-sovereignty, so that they and their families truly enjoy the “fruits” of their labour by growing and eating their own production of healthy, nutritious foods and re-establishing their dignity as purveyors of health and nutrition for so many in our country.
